Error messages and fixes
What the most common Parcello and carrier messages mean, why they appear and what to do next.
Updated October 23, 2026
This page lists the messages you are most likely to see in Parcello, grouped by where they appear. Each entry gives the message, why it happens and how to fix it. Parts in angle brackets, like <fields>, change from case to case.

Boxes and packages on the order
“<N> line items not assigned to any box.”
Some items on the order aren’t in any box yet, so no label covers them. This happens when a product has no box set on the Products page, or when boxes were removed by hand. Add the item to a box in the package table on the order, use Add Package, or set up the product’s boxes and run Recalculate Packages. See Set up products.
“No packages created. Click “Add Package” to create packages for this shipment.”
The shipment has no boxes. Click Add Package, or move a box into it with Move to different shipment.
“Some packages have no content weight. Enter the content weight before creating labels.”
A box has no weight for its contents, usually because the product has no weight in Parcello or Shopify. Type the content weight on the box, or add the weight to the product’s box row on the Products page. See Box weights and declared values.
“These packages have items assigned but are not part of any shipment. They won’t receive labels until moved to a shipment.”
Boxes with items are sitting outside every shipment. Use Move to different shipment to put each one in a shipment.
“This line item was cancelled in Shopify and can’t be assigned”
The item was cancelled or refunded in Shopify, so there are no units left to pack. Nothing to fix. See When an order changes in Shopify.
“The order changed since these boxes were packed. Boxes were updated; get rates again.”
Units were removed from the order in Shopify after the boxes were packed. Parcello took them out of the boxes before buying. Click Validate Address & Get Rates again, then Create Labels.
“<Label> is locked once a label has been created.”
You see this for the carrier, ship date, signature, Saturday delivery and insurance settings, and similar messages for notifications, customs data and freight details (“…locked after label creation. Void the labels to change.”). A shipment with a label can’t change. Void the label first, then edit. See Create and void labels.
Addresses
“Cannot create labels: Missing required shipping fields: <fields>. Please edit the ship-to address to add the missing information.”
The label address is missing something every carrier needs. The most common gap is the phone number: Shopify orders often have none, and Parcello needs at least 10 digits, using only digits, spaces and + - ( ). A state or province is required only for the US and Canada. Open Label Address > Edit on the shipment, add the missing field and save. The same check can show as “Address validated by carrier, but missing required shipping fields: …” after Validate Address & Get Rates. See Addresses.
“Address must be validated before creating labels. Click ‘Validate Address & Get Rates’ first.”
The address hasn’t been checked, or the carrier couldn’t confirm it. Click Validate Address & Get Rates. If the carrier suggests a change, choose Use Suggested Address or Keep Original Address. If the carrier can’t verify the address at all, correct it with Label Address > Edit; saving your edit counts as your decision, and Create Labels then accepts it.
“UPS validates U.S. and Puerto Rico addresses only. The address will be used as entered.”
A note, not an error. UPS only checks US and Puerto Rico addresses, so international addresses go on the label as written. Check them carefully. Shippo shows a similar note for non-US addresses, and Estes and FedEx Freight for every address.
“The shipping address changed while it was being checked. Get rates again.”
The order’s address changed in Shopify, or someone edited the label address, while the carrier was checking it. Click Validate Address & Get Rates again.
“UPS sign-in failed. Reconnect UPS on Carriers.”
UPS refused Parcello’s sign-in for your account. Go to Carriers > UPS and sign in again. See Connect UPS.
If UPS keeps refusing it for two hours, the UPS card shows Reconnect and tracking for UPS pauses until you sign in again or enter new API credentials. Estes and FedEx Freight connections work the same way.
Rates and labels
“No quotes on file. Get rates before creating labels; quotes are cleared whenever the insurance setting, the signature setting or the ship date changes.”
Shippo and Estes labels are bought at the price you saw. Changing insurance, Signature required or the ship date clears that price. Click Validate Address & Get Rates (or Get Freight Rates on Estes), check the price, then create the label.
“<Service> wasn’t quoted for this shipment. Switched to <service> (<price>). Pick another service from the dropdown if you prefer.”
The service the shipment had, often the one picked at checkout, didn’t come back from the carrier for this destination or these boxes. Parcello picked another quoted service. Check the Service dropdown before buying.
“Get rates before creating labels: Saturday delivery changes the services and the price.”
Saturday delivery was ticked or unticked on a UPS or FedEx shipment since the last rates. Click Validate Address & Get Rates, then create the label. See Saturday delivery.
“Get rates again: the ship date is now <date>, and Saturday delivery depends on it.”
The rates were for an earlier day, so their Saturday delivery dates no longer hold. Get rates again, or pick the ship date first.
“<Service> doesn’t deliver Saturday from this ship date. Pick a service marked Saturday delivery, or untick Saturday delivery.”
With Saturday delivery ticked, the shipment’s service still delivers on a weekday (UPS charges its Saturday fee on it anyway). Pick a service marked Saturday delivery, or untick the box. When rating finds this, Parcello switches the service itself: “<Service> doesn’t deliver Saturday from this ship date. Switched to <service> (<price>).”
“No <carrier> service reaches a Saturday from a <weekday> ship date. Overnight services deliver Saturday when shipped on Friday, 2-day services when shipped on Thursday.”
A note after rating with Saturday delivery ticked. Pick a Thursday or Friday ship date, or untick Saturday delivery. With UPS, the Saturday fee is still added to every service while the box is ticked.
“Saturday delivery is offered on UPS and FedEx shipments within the US.”
The shipment’s carrier or lane doesn’t offer it.
“Carrier and service must be selected”
Pick a carrier and a service on the shipment, or set a store default on Carriers. See How Parcello picks the carrier and service.
“Ship date must be within the next 7 days.”
Pick a ship date between today and 7 days from now.
“A label for this shipment is being bought right now. Refresh in a moment.” and “This shipment already has a label. Refresh to see it.”
A second click, another tab or a batch already bought the label. Refresh the page instead of clicking again, so you don’t buy twice.
“These rates changed. Get rates again.”
The service you picked isn’t among the rates on file any more, for example because the rates were fetched again in another tab. Click Validate Address & Get Rates again, then pick the service.
“Failed to get rates: <carrier message>”
The carrier returned no rates. The rest of the message is the carrier’s own reason. The next sections cover the common ones.
Messages from UPS and FedEx
Carrier messages start with the carrier and its code, such as “UPS Error 110003:” or “FEDEX Error RATE.LOCATION.NOSERVICE:”, followed by the carrier’s own wording.
UPS Error 110003
UPS takes at most 50 packages in one shipment. A large order packed one unit per box can go over. Set Max qty per box so more units share a box (Limit items per box), or split the boxes across two shipments with Move to different shipment.
UPS Error 111050
A box is over UPS’s size limit (for example, more than 165 inches of length plus girth). Check the box’s dimensions on the Boxes page. A box that big needs freight. See Boxes and Freight with Estes.
“UPS account number missing — enter your 6-digit shipper number on the Carriers page to enable rating.”
UPS is signed in but has no shipper number, so it can’t rate or buy. Enter it under Carriers > UPS > Account. This often shows with “Operation failed:” in front.
FEDEX Error RATE.LOCATION.NOSERVICE
FedEx has no service for this shipment. Despite the wording, the usual cause is a box over FedEx’s parcel size limits, not the destination. Check the box dimensions. Oversize boxes may quote FedEx freight services instead.
“FedEx Ground doesn’t deliver to homes. The label went out as FedEx Home Delivery.”
A note. FedEx splits ground delivery by address type, so Parcello sent the label on the right one. The reverse note reads “FedEx Home Delivery doesn’t deliver to businesses. The label went out as FedEx Ground.”
“FedEx refused <service>: … Sent again as <service>, FedEx refused that too: …”
Parcello tried both FedEx ground services and FedEx refused both. Read FedEx’s reasons in the message, usually an address problem, fix it with Label Address > Edit, and try again.
“No connected FedEx credentials found for shop. Connect FedEx on the Carriers page (EULA → Account Registration → MFA).”
The shipment uses FedEx but FedEx isn’t connected. Finish Connect FedEx on Carriers. See Connect FedEx.
Shippo
“Shippo returned no rates — check that carriers are enabled on your Shippo account (Settings → Carriers).”
No carrier on your Shippo account quoted this shipment. Turn on the carriers you want in Shippo. If Shippo gave a reason, the message reads “Shippo returned no rates. Shippo reported: …” instead. A Shippo account created inside the sign-in window may come without Shippo’s own UPS account; see Connect Shippo.
“USPS can’t ship an international shipment with more than one box: each box would need its own customs form. Pick a UPS, FedEx or DHL Express service instead.”
USPS through Shippo takes one box per international shipment. Pick another service, or split the boxes into separate shipments.
“Shippo rejected the label purchase: <reason>”
Shippo refused to buy the label and gave a reason, such as an account or carrier setting in Shippo. Fix it in Shippo and try again.
“Shippo is still processing the label purchase (status <status>). Check your Shippo dashboard before trying again, as the label may still be bought.”
Shippo hasn’t finished. Check your Shippo dashboard before clicking again, so you don’t buy the label twice.
“Service <service> not available for this shipment. Available: <services>.”
The service on the shipment isn’t offered for this shipment on your Shippo account. Pick one of the listed services.
“USPS takes one pickup request per address per day, and this location already has one for that day (confirmation <number>).”
A USPS pickup through Shippo is already booked at this location for that date. Use that pickup, or book the other labels for another day. See Book UPS, FedEx and USPS pickups.
“Shippo refused the pickup: <reason>”
Shippo turned down the USPS pickup request. The rest of the message is Shippo’s reason. Fix what it names, or pick another date, then click Book pickup again.
“Shippo didn’t confirm the pickup (<reason>). It may have been booked: check your Shippo account before booking again.”
Shippo didn’t answer in time, answered with a server error, or its answer couldn’t be read, so Parcello can’t tell whether the pickup was booked and doesn’t try again on its own. Check your Shippo account before you click Book pickup again, so you don’t book twice.
“Not in this pickup: <order> (<reason>).”
A yellow banner after booking a USPS pickup. The pickup was booked, but the labels it names aren’t on it, for example because they were bought on a different USPS account. They stay on the Pickups card as waiting. See Which labels a USPS pickup covers.
“A USPS confirmation number has only letters and numbers, like WTC310058750.”
The number typed on a USPS pickup that’s waiting on USPS has other characters, or fewer than 4 or more than 30. Copy it from USPS’s email again; spaces are dropped for you. See What Shippo answers.
Estes freight
“Estes freight is US-only in Parcello: both the ship-from and ship-to addresses must be in the United States.”
Freight bills of lading in Parcello are for US addresses only. Book cross-border freight with the carrier directly. FedEx Freight shipments show the same message with FedEx Freight’s name.
“Estes doesn’t deliver to <country>.” and “Estes needs the destination city to quote Canada.”
Estes quotes the US, Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico. Canada also needs a city. Add the city to the label address, or ship another way.
Estes’s own message, for example “The Destination City, State, Zip, and Country you’ve entered are not valid together.”
Estes checks that the city and ZIP code belong together. Correct the city or ZIP with Label Address > Edit.
“No quotes on file. Get freight rates before creating the BOL; quotes are cleared whenever the freight details or the ship date change.”
Click Get Freight Rates, then Create BOL. This applies to Estes and FedEx Freight shipments. See Bills of lading and Estes pickups and FedEx Freight bills of lading and pickups.
“Estes needs a contact email for the pickup. Add a Contact email to the ship-from location (Locations page).”
Add a Contact email to the location on Locations, then schedule the pickup again.
“This pickup covers several shipments. Cancel it from Pickups on the Orders page.”
One freight pickup covers more than one shipment, so it can’t be cancelled from a single order. Cancel it from the Pickups card on the Orders page.
“Could not cancel the scheduled Estes pickup (<reason>). Cancel it on MyEstes, then void again.”
The BOL wasn’t voided because its pickup couldn’t be cancelled. Cancel the pickup on MyEstes, then void again.
FedEx Freight
“FedEx Freight rates in Parcello are for shipments within the United States.” and “FedEx Freight needs the destination city to quote.” (or ZIP code, or state)
FedEx Freight quotes and bills of lading in Parcello need both addresses in the United States, and the destination’s ZIP code, city and state. Add the missing part to the label address with Label Address > Edit, or ship another way. At checkout, the rate appears once the customer has entered a full US address.
“FedEx Freight says the ship-from address doesn’t match the address on this FedEx Freight account. Each location needs the account registered at its address.”
FedEx Freight checks the ship-from address against the address its account is registered at. Check the location’s address on Locations against the account’s address with FedEx Freight.
“FedEx Freight won’t bill this account for a BOL. …” and “FedEx Freight says the billing address doesn’t match the bill-to account’s address on record. …”
Under BOL billing on the FedEx Freight card, enter the bill-to account FedEx Freight invoices and its billing address exactly as FedEx Freight has it. See Freight with FedEx Freight.
“The ship-from location needs a phone number for the BOL (Locations page).”
Add a phone number to the location on Locations, then create the BOL again.
“FedEx Freight didn’t answer (<reason>). The BOL may or may not have been created: check fedexfreight.com before trying again.”
Look for the BOL on fedexfreight.com before you click Create BOL again, so you don’t create two.
“Could not cancel the scheduled FedEx Freight pickup (<reason>). Cancel it on fedexfreight.com, then void again.”
The BOL wasn’t voided because its pickup couldn’t be cancelled. Cancel the pickup on fedexfreight.com, then void again.
International shipments
“Complete the customs form before creating labels for this international shipment.”
Each customs row needs a description, quantity, unit value, HS code, country of manufacture and weight. Parcello fills most fields from the boxes but leaves HS code and country of manufacture blank. Complete them and save. See International shipments and the customs form.
“Add the product identifiers (M-PID, NS-PID and S-PID) to every customs row. EU customs needs them on shipments to consumers.”
Shipments to consumers in the EU need three product identifiers per row. Fill them in, or add the importer’s tax ID if the recipient is a business. See EU product identifiers.
Fulfillment
“Shopify can’t fulfill this line item through Parcello right now. …”
Shopify refused the fulfillment, which can happen with orders placed before Parcello was installed. Mark the item fulfilled in Shopify admin and paste the tracking number from the shipment. The label is still valid. See Fulfill orders in Shopify.
“Every shipment must have a label before bulk fulfillment” and “Every package must be assigned to a shipment before bulk fulfillment”
Fulfill Order covers the whole order at once. Create the missing labels, or use the Fulfill button on each line item instead.
“Cannot fulfill <N>; only <M> remaining” and “No units remaining in Shopify to fulfill”
Some units were already fulfilled, in Parcello or elsewhere. Refresh the page to see what’s left.
“This line item was cancelled in Shopify — nothing to fulfill”
The item was cancelled in Shopify, so there is nothing to fulfill.
Connecting carriers
“Enter your 6-digit UPS shipper account number.” and “Connect UPS first, then enter your account number.”
Your UPS account number is 6 characters. Sign in to UPS on Carriers before saving it.
“Invalid UPS credentials. Please check your Client ID and Client Secret.”
UPS refused the developer credentials you entered. Copy them again, or use the UPS sign-in option instead.
“UPS sign-in didn’t finish. Try again.” and “Shippo sign-in didn’t finish. Try again.”
The sign-in was cancelled, the pop-up was closed before it finished, or the carrier refused it. Click the sign-in button on the card again. See Connect UPS or Connect Shippo.
“That sign-in link expired. Click Connect with UPS again.” (or Sign in with Shippo)
The Carriers page was open for more than an hour before you signed in. Click the button again.
“This sign-in was started for a different store.”
The UPS or Shippo sign-in began in Parcello on another store. Start it again from this store’s Carriers page.
“Estes didn’t accept that username and password.” and “Couldn’t reach Estes. Try again.”
Parcello checks a new or changed MyEstes login with Estes before saving it. Check the username and password, or try again if Estes didn’t answer. See Freight with Estes.
“Verification session expired”
FedEx verification codes are valid for 30 minutes. Submit your account details again on the FedEx registration page, then enter the new code. See Connect FedEx.
“Registration failed” and “FedEx account number must be 9 digits.”
FedEx checks the address you enter against the address on file for the account, and a mismatch is the most common reason it refuses. Enter the address exactly as FedEx has it.
“Enter the code FedEx sent you.”
Type the code FedEx sent by text, email or voice, or verify with invoice details instead.
“FedEx couldn’t send a code by <method>. Try again in a few minutes, or choose another method below.”
FedEx refused to send the code. The verification stays open, so try again in a few minutes or use another method. The message ends with FedEx’s error code, such as “FedEx error: PIN.ISSUE.FAILED.”
“FedEx doesn’t offer <method> codes for this account.”
The page was opened before FedEx answered with the methods it offers for your account. Use one of the methods the message lists. See Connect FedEx.
“FedEx says the code is wrong or has expired. Check it, or send a new code.”
Check the code, or click Resend code and enter the new one.
“FedEx found no invoice with that number on this account.” and “FedEx didn’t accept the invoice.”
Check the invoice number, date and amount against the invoice, then try again.
“FedEx Freight didn’t accept this Client ID and secret. Use the production credentials of your integration (developer.fedexfreight.com), not the test ones.”
The Client ID or secret is wrong, or they are your integration’s test credentials. Copy the production credentials from developer.fedexfreight.com. See Freight with FedEx Freight.
“Test quote from <city>, <state> failed: <reason>”
A warning on the FedEx Freight card. Parcello saved the connection, but FedEx Freight refused a test quote from your default location. Fix what the reason names, then click Update.
“FedEx Freight is on the Freight plan.”
Below the Freight plan, the FedEx Freight card shows this instead of its form. See Plans, free trial and billing.
Products, import and locations
“Cannot apply import — validation errors present.”
Your Excel file has problems. Each one is listed by row, for example “Row <N> (<variant>): Box “<name>” not found in box library.” Box and location names must match the names in Parcello, and each variant may appear only once. Fix the rows and import again. See Import and export product settings.
“Boxes must be filled sequentially — no gaps allowed” and “Box <N>: name and content weight must both be provided”
Each box on a product needs both a box and a content weight, and box positions can’t skip a number.
“Cannot delete this address. It is assigned to <N> variant shipping profile(s). …”
Products still ship from this location. Move them to another location on Products, then delete it.
“Add a location on the Locations page first.”
Create shipment anyway needs a location to ship from. Add one on Locations. See Locations and dropship locations.
Checkout rates
“No carrier is set to show rates at checkout”
Checkout rates are on, but no carrier is ticked, so shoppers see your backup rates. Tick Surface at checkout on a carrier’s card on Carriers. See Choose carriers and services for checkout.
“Checkout rates require the Advanced plan.” and “Estes rates at checkout are on the Freight plan.” (or FedEx Freight)
Change plans to use these features. See Plans, free trial and billing.
A red message when you click Enable
Shopify refused to add Parcello’s rates to checkout, and the message is Shopify’s own. Most often your Shopify plan doesn’t include carrier-calculated shipping. See Live rates at checkout.
Printing, saving and connection
“Please allow popups to view label previews.”
Your browser blocked the label preview window. Allow pop-ups for Shopify admin and click Print Labels again.
“Failed to download labels (HTTP <code>).”
The label PDF couldn’t be built. Try again in a moment. If it keeps failing, contact support.
“Not saved: <reason>” and “Some changes on this shipment weren’t saved. Retry them before creating labels.”
A change on the shipment didn’t save, so Parcello holds Create Labels until it does. Click Retry next to the field.
“No response from Parcello, so it may or may not have gone through. Refresh the page to check before trying again.”
The connection dropped while buying, voiding or fulfilling. Refresh first, so you don’t buy or fulfill twice. For other actions the message reads “No response from Parcello. Check your connection and try again.” On the batch page it reads “No response from the server. Refresh before retrying: the action may or may not have gone through.”
“Sync failed: <reason>”
Sync Orders couldn’t finish. Try again. New orders still arrive on their own. See The Orders page.
