Locations and dropship locations
Add the addresses you ship from, choose a default, mark dropship or 3PL locations and set daily pickups.
Updated October 20, 2026
A location is an address your products ship from. Every product is assigned to one, and Parcello groups an order’s items into shipments by location. Set up your locations first: products, labels, return labels and customs forms all read from them.
Your first location
If you have no locations when you first open Locations, Parcello creates one named “Main Location” from your store’s billing address in Shopify and makes it the default. Open it with Edit and check every field, especially the phone number and the contact email.
Add or edit a location
- Go to Locations.
- Click Add address, or Edit on an existing row.
- Fill in the fields (see the table below).
- Click Add address (or Save).
The location appears in the Ship-From Addresses table. Parcello then checks the address with a connected carrier and shows the result above the table (see The address check).
Fields
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| Location Name | Your own name for the location, like “NJ Warehouse”. Shown in Parcello and used in Excel imports. Required. |
| Contact name | Optional. Printed above your address on labels. Leave it blank to show the company name only. |
| Company Name | The company name on your labels. Required. |
| Address Line 1 and Address Line 2 | Street address, then suite, unit or building. Line 1 is required. |
| City, State, ZIP Code | Required. The State list has US states only. |
| Country | United States (the default) or Canada. |
| Phone | Required. Carriers require a shipper phone number. |
| Contact email | Optional. Carriers get it as your sender email on labels, bills of lading and pickups. Without one, they get your store email from Shopify. |
| Tax ID (EIN) | Optional, up to 18 characters. Printed as the exporter’s tax ID on customs invoices and sent to the carrier on international labels. |
| Dropship / 3PL Location | Yes - Third-party handles shipping marks the location as dropship (see below). |
| Set as default | Yes - use for new variants makes this the default location. |
The default location
One location is always the default. It’s marked Default in the table.
- New products that need shipping are assigned to the default location automatically.
- It’s the location pre-selected when you set up new product variants.
- A dropship location can’t be the default.
Setting a new default removes the mark from the old one. If you change the default to No, Parcello moves the mark to another location that isn’t dropship. You need at least one location that isn’t dropship to be the default.
Dropship and 3PL locations
Mark a location as dropship when someone else ships the products from it: a supplier who dropships, or a third-party warehouse (3PL).
For products assigned to a dropship location:
- Parcello doesn’t create boxes, labels or fulfillments for them. Your supplier or warehouse ships them.
- On the Orders page they’re counted under Dropship/3PL Items, not Parcello Items. An order made only of these items shows No Parcello items.
- On the order page they’re listed in an info box titled Dropship/3PL Items (not handled by Parcello).
- At checkout (Advanced plan), they’re still rated from the dropship address, so the customer pays shipping for them. A cart with items from your warehouse and a dropship location is priced as two shipments.
- They aren’t offered when you create a new shipment on the order page, and they don’t get daily pickup settings.
Assign products to a dropship location on the Products page, like any other location. See Set up products.
The address check
Each time you add or save a location, Parcello checks the address with your first connected carrier that can check it: UPS, then FedEx, then Shippo. The location is saved either way. You’ll see one of these:
| Result | What you see |
|---|---|
| Confirmed | A green banner: “NJ Warehouse” verified by UPS. |
| The carrier has a different address | A yellow banner titled UPS resolves “NJ Warehouse” to a different address, with the carrier’s version and a Use suggested address button. |
| The carrier can’t find it | A yellow banner titled UPS could not verify “NJ Warehouse”, with the carrier’s message and a reminder to check the street, city, state and ZIP. |
No banner means no connected carrier could check the address.
Click Use suggested address to save the carrier’s street, city, state and ZIP over yours. Your Address Line 2 stays unless the carrier returned its own.
Why it matters: an outbound label only needs a valid origin ZIP code, so it usually prints with a small mistake in your address. But your location is the destination of every return label and the exporter on every international label, and carriers reject those when they can’t verify the address. Fix the address when the check flags it.
Daily pickups
(Operations plan, with UPS, FedEx or Shippo connected.)
The Daily pickups card lists each location that isn’t dropship, with a checkbox for each connected carrier:
- UPS picks up here every day
- FedEx Express picks up here every day
- FedEx Ground picks up here every day
- USPS picks up here every day, when Shippo is connected. Parcello books USPS pickups through Shippo for the USPS labels you buy there.
Tick a box when the carrier already stops at that location every day on a schedule. Parcello then won’t offer to book a pickup for that carrier and location. The setting saves as soon as you tick it, and it’s the same setting as on the Pickups card of the Orders page. See Book UPS, FedEx and USPS pickups.
Delete a location
Click Delete on the row, then Delete again to confirm. This can’t be undone.
- Delete is unavailable while products are assigned to the location. The In Use column shows how many variants use it. Move those variants to another location on the Products page first.
- You can’t delete your only location. Add another one first.
- If you delete the default location, another location becomes the default.
Notes and limits
- Changing a location’s address doesn’t change labels you’ve already created.
- The In Use count is the number of product variants assigned to the location.
- Every label, bill of lading and pickup carries a sender email: the location’s Contact email, or your store email when it’s blank.
Troubleshooting
Return labels or international labels fail with an address error. Your location’s address doesn’t match what the carrier has on file. Edit the location, save it, and use Use suggested address if the carrier offers one.
USPS labels through Shippo are refused for a missing sender email. Add a Contact email to the location, or make sure your store has an email in Shopify.
You can’t click Delete. The location still has products assigned. Reassign them on the Products page.
