Multi-box packing

Pack every order by your box rules

Some products ship in three boxes. Some share a box. Some need a smaller box when only one is ordered. Parcello packs each order the way you ship it, before you open it.

One product in several boxes

A prize wheel ships with its stand in a separate box. A desk ships as a top and a frame. Give the product one box per part and set it to Unit split across boxes. Each unit then gets one of each box, with its own content weight.

A limit per box

Set Max qty per box on a product's box and Parcello fills each box up to that number before it opens the next one. Six mugs with a limit of two become three boxes, and each box weighs only what is in it.

Alternative box sizes

Give a product two or three box sizes and set it to Alternative boxes. Parcello starts with the largest box and moves a partly filled box down to the smallest size that still holds it. One unit goes in the small carton, two in the large one, three in a large plus a small.

Carton packs

If you sell packs of cartons, like a 4-pack, 8-pack and 12-pack in mailers that hold one, two or three cartons, set Cartons per unit on each pack. Parcello spreads the cartons across mailers and balances them, so four cartons ship as two and two, not three and one.

Mark a box Only when nothing else fits to keep it as a last resort.

Products that share a box

Turn on Combine different products into shared boxes, and products that use the same box type fill it together. Two flavors of the same size ship in one box instead of two.

Small items that ride along

Some items ship alone in a small box but fit inside a bigger product's box. On the Box sharing tab, give the bigger product room for add-ons and add the small item as a rider. When both are on the order, the small item rides inside. When it is ordered alone, it gets its own box.

Packing by size

On the Operations plan, a product can be packed by its size instead of by the boxes you assign. Enter the size of one packed unit, and Parcello picks boxes from your box library using each box's inside dimensions and weight limit. Every other product keeps its box rules.

Every box on the order, in one grid

Each order shows its line items against its boxes. Change what is in each box, add or remove boxes, and move boxes between shipments. Weights follow the box contents, and you can type a weight by hand after you weigh a box. A box locks once its label is printed.

The same rules everywhere

The packing that fills your orders is the packing Parcello uses to price live rates at checkout, so the quote and the label start from the same boxes. Box rules can be exported and imported as an Excel file.

Questions

Do I have to enter product dimensions?

No. Parcello packs by the boxes you assign to each product and the limits you set. You enter each box's size and empty weight once, and a content weight for each product. On the Operations plan you can instead enter a product's packed size and let Parcello pick its boxes.

What if an order doesn't match my rules?

Every order opens with the boxes Parcello suggests. You can change the contents, add a box or recalculate from your rules before you print labels.

Can I set up box rules in bulk?

Yes. Export your products to an Excel file, fill in the box columns and import it back.
