Packing slips
Print a packing slip for every box of a shipment, and change the billing address and message a slip prints.
Updated October 5, 2026
Parcello prints one packing slip per box, so each box tells the customer what’s in it and how many boxes to expect. You print them from the shipment once its labels exist.
Print packing slips
- Create the shipment’s labels. See Create and void labels.
- Under the label buttons, click Print Packing Slips.
A letter-size PDF opens with one page per box of the shipment. Print it and put each page in its box.
Print Packing Slips appears only on shipments with labels. It is hidden on voided shipments, since nothing ships. The slip reflects what is in each box, and boxes can’t change once the label exists, so a slip always matches its box.
To print the slips of many orders at once, use Print packing slips in a batch. See Ship many orders in a batch.
What a slip shows
| Part | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Header | The company name of the shipment’s ship-from location, and the order number and date |
| Multi-box line | On shipments with more than one box: “Box 2 of 3. This shipment includes multiple boxes, please ensure to check all 3.” |
| SHIP TO | The address on the label, including any edit or correction you accepted |
| BILL TO | The order’s billing address, unless you left it off or changed it |
| ITEMS and QUANTITY | The products in this box, with their variant, a thumbnail when the product has an image in Shopify, and the quantity in this box |
| Message | “Thank you for shopping with us!” unless you changed it |
| Footer | The ship-from location’s company name, address, email and phone |
The header and footer come from the ship-from location. Set its company name, contact email and phone on the Locations page. See Locations and dropship locations.
Items in more than one box
When the same order line is in several boxes of the shipment, each of those slips adds a note under the item, for example “Also in box 2 of this shipment” or “Also in boxes 2 and 3 of this shipment”.
This keeps a customer from reading one product as two units. Two common cases:
- A wheel that ships in three boxes (wheel, stand, graphic) lists the wheel on all three slips, each noting the other two boxes.
- Four cartons of one product that ship as 2 + 2 list the product on both slips with a quantity of 2, each noting the other box.
Edit a packing slip
You can change what one shipment’s slips print without changing the order in Shopify.
- Next to Print Packing Slips, click Edit.
- In Edit packing slip, change what you need:
- Print the billing address: untick it to leave BILL TO off the slip, for example on a gift.
- The billing address fields (First Name, Last Name, Company, Address Line 1, Address Line 2, City, State/Province, ZIP/Postal Code, Country, Phone): change the address the slip prints.
- Message: up to 500 characters. Clear it to print no message.
- Click Save.
You should see “Slip edited” under Print Packing Slips. The changes apply to every slip of that shipment.
Only what you changed is saved. If you change just the message, the billing address keeps following the order, so an address corrected in Shopify later still reaches the slip. Saving the form without changes saves nothing.
To undo your edits, open Edit again and click Reset to order details. That button appears only on an edited slip.
SHIP TO and the items can’t be edited on the slip: they always match the label and the box. To change the address, edit the label address before you create labels. See Addresses: checks, suggestions and edits.
Slips set for you
Some shipments start with slip settings already made:
- Ship to multiple recipients: each recipient’s slips leave off the buyer’s billing address and print the recipient’s message (Operations plan). See Ship one order to many recipients.
- Order presets can leave off the billing address or set a message on matching orders (Operations plan). See Order presets.
You can still change these slips with Edit.
Notes and limits
- Slips are letter size, one page per box. There is no 4x6 slip format.
- Thumbnails come from the product images in Shopify at the time the box was packed. A product without an image prints without a thumbnail.
- Characters the slip’s font can’t print, such as emoji, are left out.
Troubleshooting
I don’t see Print Packing Slips. The shipment has no labels yet, or its labels were voided.
“Failed to download packing slip (HTTP …)” Try again in a moment. If it keeps failing, contact us with the order number.
The header is blank or shows the wrong company. The slip uses the company name of the shipment’s ship-from location. Fill it in on the Locations page.
The slip prints the wrong billing address. Click Edit, correct the address or untick Print the billing address, and click Save.
