Getting started

Set up Parcello in five steps, from your first location to a test label you create and void.

Updated October 20, 2026

Parcello needs four things before it can pack an order: a location to ship from, a connected carrier set as your store default, your boxes, and a box for at least one product. This guide walks through each one and ends with a test label.

Before you start

The first time you open Parcello, it takes you to Shopify’s plan page to pick a plan. Every plan starts with a 60-day free trial. See Plans, free trial and billing.

On the Orders page, a Set up Parcello card lists the four setup steps with a Done or Incomplete badge and a Set up → link for each one. The card disappears once all four are done.

1. Add a ship-from location

Go to Locations. The first time you open the page, Parcello creates a location named “Main Location” from your store’s billing address. Click Edit to check it, or Add address to add another one.

  1. Fill in the address. Phone is required because carriers print it on the label.
  2. Add a Contact email if you want carriers to use it as your sender email. Without one, they get your store email.
  3. Click Save (or Add address for a new location).

After you save, Parcello checks the address with a connected carrier and shows a banner: verified, a suggested correction with Use suggested address, or a warning that it couldn’t verify it. Outbound labels can still print with an unverified origin, but return labels and international shipments need one the carrier can verify.

Ship from more than one place, or have a supplier ship some products for you? See Locations and dropship locations.

2. Connect a carrier and set the store default

Go to Carriers and connect at least one carrier:

  • UPS: click Connect with UPS (OAuth) and sign in at ups.com, then enter your Account Number. See Connect UPS.
  • FedEx: click Connect FedEx, accept the FedEx end user license agreement, enter your account details and confirm with the code FedEx sends you. See Connect FedEx.
  • Shippo: click Sign in with Shippo to use USPS and the other carriers on your Shippo account. See Connect Shippo.

Then pick your carrier in the Default Carrier card at the top of the page. Parcello uses it when a product has no carrier of its own and the customer’s checkout shipping method doesn’t match a connected carrier. The checklist item turns Done only when the default is a carrier you have connected.

3. Add your boxes

Go to Boxes and click Add box. Enter a Box Name, the Length, Width and Height in inches, and the Empty Box Weight in pounds. Click Add box to save it. You add each box size once and reuse it on as many products as you like. See Boxes.

4. Give your products a box

Go to Products. Each shippable variant has a row, already set to your default location under Ship From.

  1. In the Box 1 column, pick the box the variant ships in.
  2. Enter the weight of what goes inside, in pounds. When the product has a weight in Shopify, Parcello fills it in for you. The box’s empty weight is added on top.

If a product ships in more than one box, use the Box 2 column, and so on. See Set up products and Ship one product in several boxes. Setting up many products? Use Export and Import to fill in the box columns in a spreadsheet (Import and export product settings).

5. Test with a label you void

New orders arrive on their own. The first time you open the Orders page, Parcello also imports your recent orders, about the last 60 days. To run that import again later, click Sync Orders at the top of the page.

  1. Open an order that contains a product you set up. Parcello has already packed it into boxes and shipments.
  2. In the shipment, click Validate Address & Get Rates. Parcello checks the address with the carrier and lists each service with its price and delivery date.
  3. Pick a service and click Create Labels. The tracking number and the Print Labels and Download PDF buttons appear.
  4. Click Void Labels and confirm. Voiding cancels the tracking number with the carrier. For a Shippo label, Parcello asks Shippo for a refund and shows its status under the shipment.

Creating a label doesn’t fulfill the order in Shopify while Fulfillment when labels are bought is off on the Automation page, which is how it starts. Leave it off while you test: with it on, a test label marks the item fulfilled and Shopify emails the customer. When you ship for real, you fulfill the order from the same page (Fulfill orders in Shopify).

Troubleshooting

  • The carrier step stays Incomplete. The Default Carrier card is set to None (select per variant), or to a carrier you haven’t connected. Pick a connected carrier.
  • An order has no boxes. The order arrived before its products had a box. Give the product a box, open the order and click Recalculate Packages at the top of the page. See Boxes and shipments on the order.
  • An order says it doesn’t need a shipping label. Shopify recorded it as a pickup, local delivery or in-store order. If you do want to ship it, click Create shipment anyway.
  • An older order is missing. Sync Orders reaches about 60 days back. Shopify limits how far back apps without full order history access can read.
